Yesterday’s Dividing Line webcast was a caller-driven program. After some brief thoughts on the submission to Islam involved in the destruction of Bibles in Afghanistan, we turned to the phone lines. The first was about the use/value of the pericope adulterae and the longer ending of Mark. The second provided some clarification regarding the Ehrman debate. We also discussed whether Arminianism is a heresy, before getting back to a discussion of the radio discussion between Dan Barker and Bart Ehrman.

The Forgotten Trinity, the Deity of Christ, and Jehovah’s Witnesses
James White, , The Dividing Line
The Christian should be passionate about the Trinity, as following Tota Scriptura will inevitablely lead to believing in the Trinity, one being of God in three persons. Most objections to the Trinity confound the categories of being and person, and Jehovah’s Witnesses have a deeply entrenched presupposition of Unitarianism that must ignore texts that demonstrate the deity of Christ.

Debate: Can Men Become Gods? Martin Tanner, Salt Lake City, Utah, 10/5/2002
James White, , Debate, Mormonism, The Dividing Line
The issue of the nature of God is the dividing line that separates Mormonism from Biblical Christianity. Mormon apologists over the past few decades have begun appealing to the early church fathers and the doctrine of ‘theosis,’ asserting that if we acknowledge the Christian standing of these early Christians, then we should not question the claim that Mormons are Christians
