The source The Berean Call utilized to attempt substantiation of the wild claims about a Hebrew original of Acts 13:48 that is meant to cast doubt upon the actual translation of the passage (all in the service of anti-Calvinism) turns out to be anti-Trinitarian as well. Their statement of faith includes this line: “The Holy Spirit is likened to the wind, John 3:8; Acts 10:45, a dynamic, invisible force and is not a person. Therefore, we find that the Trinity doctrine is not scriptural but is from paganism.” Gives new meaning to the old saying, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Let’s “borrow” from the anti-Trinitarians, as long as it aids us in our blasting away wildly at “Calvinism.”

What You NEED to Know about the Calvinism and Arminianism Debate
Dr. Alan Kurschner, , Christian Worldview, Exegesis, Reformed Apologetics, Reformed Baptist Issues
The Calvinism-Arminianism debate is substantially a debate between what is called “synergism” and “monergism.” For those who are new to this debate, the following is a primer on the two perennial branches of theological systems within Christianity. Or to put it another way, there are two very different ways for believers to understand their salvation. The first type is the

A Response to Southern Seminary and Dr. Mark Seifrid
James White, , General Apologetics, Pastoral Theology, Reformed Apologetics, Theology Matters
In early September, 2004, Southern Seminary posted an official statement regarding Dr. Mark Seifrid’s views on justification. The statement was clearly prompted by the blog entries that have appeared on my blog beginning in July of this year. Allow me to begin my response by stating once again: I began my review of Dr. Seifrid’s book for purely theological, pastoral,

Dave Hunt: Credibility Crash Continues
James White, , Reformed Apologetics
It doesn’t matter how often he is refuted. It doesn’t matter how often he is challenged. Dave Hunt seems utterly unconcerned about such minor things as truth, accuracy, consistency, or any related issues. When it comes to his most recent crusade, Mr. Hunt’s ears are closed. Evidently, he assumes he has already lost any Reformed readers or supporters he once

Another Comment from Jerry Walls
James White, , Reformed Apologetics
I was sent a follow up comment from Dr. Walls: REGARDING JAMES WHITE My good friend and philosophical ally Luke Van Horn informs me that James White has continued his critique of my lecture “What’s Wrong with Calvinism” on his podcast. While it appears he misses the point of my argument at times, and attempts to diminish its force by

James White and Jason Robinson Discuss Romans 8:28-34
James White, , Exegesis, General Apologetics, King James Onlyism, Pastoral Theology, Personal, Reformed Apologetics, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters
Pastor Jason Robinson from West Virginia joined us on the program today to offer competing (and conflicting!) interpretations of this key soteriological text. 30 minutes of exegesis then 30 minutes of cross-ex, with ten minutes of closing statements. We developed connection issues during the cross-examination and had to go to the phone to finish things up. Jeff Durbin joined me

Michael Spencer: Selective Hearing Illustrated
James White, , Reformed Apologetics
What keeps God’s love from becoming mere maudlin sentimentality? What is the bulwark, the firm foundation, that keeps the love of God from falling into the abyss of universalism, and prohibits us from the idolatry of seeing God as the great grandfather in the sky, filled with woe and sadness at His inability to make us all happy? I suggest
