Those of you who are in the Texas area will want to keep an eye open for the announcement of the dedication period for the new San Antonio Temple. Watch for the announcement here.
I would encourage believers there in Texas, even those who are not particularly focused upon evangelizing Mormons, to find the time to visit the temple during the Open House. Such a visit will help you to understand the LDS faith much better: of course, you won’t really get any in-depth information from the guide during the visit, however, if you ever read up on the actual endowment ceremony, you will have a much better position from which to visualize the temple endowment ceremony. And, I have found that such close-quarters contact with LDS often results in Christians becoming more sensitive to the need to share with the Mormon people.

The Only Begotten of the Father in the Flesh: Mormonism’s Embarrassing Theology (Final)
James White, , Mormonism
THUS SAYETH THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATIONS If we assume that a publication copyrighted by the Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can be logically called “official,” we find a number of statements concerning the literal paternity of Christ in “official” documents written over the last thirty years. For example, from the Family Home Evenings

Creeds and Confessions, Dan McClellan Continued
James White, , CBGM, Church History, Mormonism, Personal, Textual Issues, The Dividing Line
Worked through a thirteen tweet discussion about creeds and confessions and Biblical sufficiency from Dr. Brad Klassen, posted on 5/30, then got back to Dan McClellan’s comments about the manuscripts of the New Testament.

Heading to Salt Lake
James White, , Mormonism
That normally means I’m headed into unfriendly territory, but given the current bombardment at home, I think I will enjoy the time away…. Friday night the debate on the issue of temples with a Mormon representative at the University of Utah, Saturday night a debate on homosexual marriage, same venue. DL this afternoon/evening: your calls, some comments on TGE, Dave

Guessing About God: Mormonism’s Inability to Resist the Onslaught of Modernistic Skepticism (Part 8)
James White, , Mormonism
I here continue my response to Daniel McClellan’s April 8th article. I’ll now turn to his actual argument. I’m going to largely avoid addressing specific claims about Mormon beliefs that are brought up by James with varying degrees of accuracy only for shock value. Such rhetoric really doesn’t make a real point and doesn’t merit a response. Mr. McClellan’s words

Mormonism’s True Core
James White, , Mormonism
The LDS Church is very actively seeking to reshape itself in the light of the reality that it can no longer survive as a religion focused upon the inter-mountain West of the USA. The final result of this transformation is unknown to anyone but God (apologies to our Open Theistic readers). But one thing is for certain: in seeking to

Roadtrip DL from Salt Lake City: Jackson-Brown and the Culture of Death
James White, , Abortion, Christian Worldview, Homosexuality, Mormonism, Personal, Road Trip, The Dividing Line
Never dreamed in the early 1980s I would someday be doing a live “webcast” (of all things!) from Salt Lake City, but here we are! Discussed the Jackson-Brown issue in light of the Christian worldview and many other related issues. Also listened to Brandan Robertson twist John 11 into a homosexual-affirming pretzel.

The Only Begotten of the Father in the Flesh: Mormonism’s Embarrassing Theology (#2)
James White, , Mormonism
Nineteenth Century Teachings Since it is said that this doctrine is primarily found in the nineteenth century, we should take the time to find out if those LDS leaders that modern apologists admit speculated on this topic were, in fact, saying, This is my speculation and opinion only, or whether in fact they taught this doctrine as a divine truth,

Mormonism 101: Fourth Level Statements (#3)
James White, , Mormonism
James Talmage Another leading scholar (and General Authority) of Mormonism was James Talmage. Talmage’s books, Articles of Faith and Jesus the Christ, have been read so widely that they are almost quasi-canonical. Indeed, both have been published by the LDS Church itself, sometimes in leather-bound editions! They are often included in the books given to Mormon missionaries as they prepare
