On the upcoming edition of the Dividing Line, Tuesday, January 10th, at 1pm EST, I will be presenting “John 6 for Roman Catholics.” This will be a live walk through the 6th chapter of John based upon the original language text. And while one cannot help but deal with the central issues of the gospel in 6:35-45, we will continue on to make application and demonstrate that Jesus’ words concerning eating His flesh and drinking His blood, contextually, has nothing to do with Aristotelian philosophy and categories of being. Was Jesus really teaching transubstantiation a thousand years before the term came into usage? And did the disciples walk away because of that teaching? Or was it something else, something made plain in the text, if one is but willing to listen? I have challenged a couple defenders of Rome to do the same thing, to walk through John 6 and present their case. The comparison and contrast, I would hope, will be helpful. Join us!

A Mega Size Dividing Line: Matthew Vines, NT Wright, Yusuf Ismail, and More
James White, , Abortion, Christian Worldview, General Apologetics, Homosexuality, Islam, Pastoral Theology, The Dividing Line, Theology Matters
Going almost a full two hours today was pretty easy, given how much I needed to catch up on! Did nearly a full hour on Matthew Vines’ comments about me from a recent Google video, then played a clip from NT Wright on predestination and election, then I addressed my Muslim friends, and finished up going back to the issue

Church History Story Time with Uncle Jimmy: Road Trip Edition (Audio Only)
James White, , Reformed Apologetics, Reformed Baptist Issues, The Dividing Line, Thomism
After a few minutes about the importance of self discipline in the Christian life, I read through three sections from Dr. Nick Needham’s 2000 Years of Christ’s Power series, one dealing with the Robber Synod, one dealing with the Marburg Colloquy, and the last about the death of Chrysostom. Enjoy!

Who Killed Jesus?
James White, , General Apologetics
Isn’t it amazing that this is the big question today because of the Gibson film? And isn’t it even more amazing that the early church, long before the first gospel was written or the first epistle penned, knew the answer? And isn’t it just sad that most evangelicals don’t even believe what the Bible says about it anymore, and refuse

Scripture and Tradition
James White, , Reformed Apologetics, Reformed Baptist Issues, The Dividing Line, Thomism
Today we mainly looked at the first chapter of the London Baptist Confession of Faith and its beautiful and important testimony to the inspiration and sufficiency of Scripture. Hopefully encouraging for us all! I did look at a few statements made by folks at the beginning of the show, but tried to keep most of them relevant to the over-all

Looks Can Be Deceiving: A Study in the Tactics of Roman Catholic Apologists Part II
James White, , Roman Catholicism
Greetings It seems Mr. Sungenis doesn’t want to wait a few weeks to get into the debating mode. -) Well, that’s OK. While Mr. Sungenis has, to my knowledge, only one debate to do on Long Island, I have three, and so I will be rather brief, and to the point, in this response. I am replying to all to

Never Thirst – Taking Jesus “Literally” can be Fatal
TurretinFan, , Roman Catholicism
Roman Catholics like to try to claim that they are just taking Jesus “literally” when they interpret “this is my body” to mean that what was in Jesus’ hands was not bread but his physical body . Three passages in John help to illustrate the problem with that approach: John 4, John 6, and John 7. In the first, Jesus

Today’s Dividing Line (DL) program will be posted soon, I’m sure. In the meantime, since the issue came up in passing during the DL, and since you have some time to kill while you are waiting for the mp3 of the DL to become available, you can check out a response I wrote a couple of years ago to William
